Fleshwound are a 5 piece melodic hard rock band ready to tear open the South African market, with a stage presence that promises to leave the crowd gasping for more, and the dedication and hard work that sells albums.
Fleshwound takes its formation and structure from a wide variety of influences, ranging from jazz & blues to punk & riff based hard rock/metal.
In 2005 drummer Sean Shuping, and guitarist Neil Ferreira, broke away from their grunge trio, to join forces with jazz vocalist Nick Swardt and started what is known today as Fleshwound. After a few auditions the band found their bassist Andre Schoeman, whose dedication and passion for his instrument secured him a place in Fleshwound, and brought a sense of new life to the band. Things were going well for the band, the music was catchy and the crowd response was positive, but still there was something missing, so the band decided to search for a second guitarist to try and fill this “empty space” so to say, Andre had seen and heard a fellow college student and crew member playing, and suggested to the band to audition him for the part, this is when guitarist Mark Stone became part of Fleshwound and it is now that everything seemed complete.
Fleshwound now constitutes fresh, catchy songs with stage presence that is alive and honest. In short Fleshwound keep it simple yet ‘rock out’ enough to keep the headbangers at bay and the cynics believing.
