This South African, Durban based band has gone from strength to strength, with their first single Regular Flavour reaching No.1 on the Vodacom High 5 @ 5 global chart on 5fm. The single spent 4 weeks at No.1, which is an achievement that only a few South African bands in History have achieved. They also charted at No.18 on the Liqui Cooler international top 40 and received some high rotation screening of their music video on channel MK on DSTV.
The single caused waves around the country with its catchy sing along chorus and clever hooks, which defines Driverlane’s fresh and original sound. Having been play listed on 5fm and almost every provincial and campus radio station around the country Regular Flavour is literally all over the airways, and was chosen as the theme song for the hilarious Footskating 101 movie, which hit the big screens nationally on 14 September.
But it’s not just on the radio, television and movies that Driverlane have had its success. As one of the most toured acts in the country they have polished their explosive and energetic stage act and left many an exhausted audience in their wake. Driverlane have completed 5 national tours to date including some of the most high profile tours in the country, the Powerzone Road show and the Go summer tour, alongside other top acts such as Wonderboom, The Parlotones, Prime Circle, The Finkelsteins and the Springbok Nude Girls, to name just a few.
Driverlane's much-anticipated full-length album Digital Rainbow will be released through Sovereign Records October 2007 and will be distributed nationally through Universal Music.
Once Digital Rainbow hits all major CD stores countrywide, Driverlane will be launching the album in hometown Durban to an exclusive audience. The release will coincide with a media campaign by 5fm in support of the album, and the band setting off on The 2007 Go Summer Tour which sees them travelling from Durban to Cape Town, performing at all major holiday destinations along the way.
We can look forward to the second single of the album tearing up the charts once again and the band embarking on countrywide tours and ultimately setting their sights on extending their fan base internationally.
