Arlyn is in a genre all of its own, and it’s called ‘folk-minimalism’. Combining elements of folk, jazz, and 70’s melodic rock with distinctively minimalistic instrumentation, a new music has emerged, and it’s turning heads. Mystical lyrical themes, complex acoustic playing, falsetto vocals, and a rather mythical agenda concerned with the recollection of innocence makes for a unique music. Add to this the masterful talents of vibraphone player Ngwako Manamela, and you’re onto something special.
Arlyn is the official support act for legendary folk band Magna Carta on their nationwide SA tour this July (www.magnac.com), and is set to ignite audiences with its distinctive, moving music.
Arlyn’s debut single, Young but Growing, has just been released, and it can be downloaded for free from www.loadtheshow.com/show/arlyn.
It is taken of the forthcoming album, The Innocence of Myth.
